About MCX Gold
MCX Gold is the full-size domestic gold contract: one kilogram, quoted per 10 grams. Its price is international gold translated through the rupee, so a move can originate in bullion, in USD/INR or in import duty, and those three do not always pull in the same direction.
How to read the MCX Gold option chain
Calls sit on the left of the table, puts on the right, and the strike price runs down the middle. The at-the-money strike is highlighted, and in-the-money rows are shaded on each side — so the shading crosses over at the money, which is the fastest way to find where price actually is.
Four columns carry most of the information. LTP is the last traded premium. OI is how many contracts remain open at that strike, and OI change is how that has moved today — the difference between a level that has been crowded for a week and one that is being built right now. IV is the implied volatility the market is charging, and comparing it across strikes shows you the skew: which side traders are paying up to own.
Gold's strikes are spaced on a 1,000-rupee grid here, which keeps the chain readable at a five-figure price level instead of sprawling across hundreds of near-identical rows. The book is genuinely two-session: it re-prices in the Indian morning and then again when US markets open in the evening, and the second move is usually the larger one.
Below the table, open interest is charted by strike so the walls are visible at a glance, alongside Max Pain and the put-call ratio. Hovering any cell brings up that leg's day open, high, low, previous close, greeks and last trade time.

MCX Gold option chain — common questions
How do I read open interest on the MCX Gold chain?
Open interest is the number of contracts still open at a strike, and its change through the day is the useful part. Rising OI with a rising premium is fresh buying; rising OI with a falling premium is fresh writing. The strike carrying the largest call OI tends to act as resistance and the largest put OI as support.
What does the MCX Gold PCR tell me?
The put-call ratio is total put open interest divided by total call open interest across the strikes on this page. Above roughly 1.0 more puts are open than calls, which is conventionally read as bullish positioning because puts are predominantly written; below 1.0 the reverse. It is a positioning gauge, not a signal, and it is most informative when you watch it move rather than when you read a single value.
What is Max Pain on MCX Gold?
Max Pain is the strike at which the total intrinsic value of all in-the-money options — the amount option writers would have to pay out — is at its minimum. The theory is that price gravitates toward it into expiry because writers are the better-capitalised side. Treat it as one input among several: it is computed from the current open-interest snapshot and it moves as that snapshot changes.
Why does MCX Gold move when nothing has happened in India?
Because you are trading international gold through the rupee. The domestic price is a function of the global bullion price, USD/INR and import duty, so a move in any of the three shows up here. That is also why the chain reprices twice a day: once in the Indian morning, and again — usually harder — when US markets open in the evening.
Gold or Gold Mini?
Same metal, a tenth of the size. Gold Mini exists so a retail account can hold the position without the margin dominating it. The trade-off is a thinner book, so check the mini's own chain rather than assuming the full-size contract's quotes carry over.
Is this MCX Gold option chain live?
Yes. Bullmatics holds one streaming connection to the exchange feed and fans every tick out to all visitors over a single websocket, so the option chain on this page updates in real time during market hours (9:00 AM to 11:30 PM IST, Monday to Friday (the evening close shifts to 11:55 PM while US daylight saving is in effect)). Outside those hours it shows the last completed session rather than going blank.
What is the MCX Gold option lot size?
MCX Gold options trade in lots of 100, quoted in rupees per 10 grams, and one lot represents 1 kilogram of the underlying. So a premium of 100 is worth 10,000 rupees per lot. Exchanges revise lot sizes periodically — check the current MCX contract specification before you size a position.
Do I need an account or a broker login to use this?
No. There is no signup, no broker login and no paywall. The option chain above is the same data every other visitor sees, streamed from one shared market connection. Bullmatics is an analytics and education tool only — you cannot place orders here, and nothing on this page is investment advice.
What are the MCX Gold option trading hours?
MCX Gold options trade 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM IST, Monday to Friday (the evening close shifts to 11:55 PM while US daylight saving is in effect), and the exchange is closed on its published trading holidays. The evening session is when MCX contracts do most of their moving, because that is when US markets are open and the news that drives commodities lands.
